A Guide to Crafting Silhouettes

Cassandra’s silhouettes are the perfect bespoke treasures, celebrating enduring family bonds through distinguished craftsmanship. This guide gives a background to the process of crafting your silhouettes.

What is silhouette jewellery?

A silhouette is the outline or general shape of a figure, typically shown as a solid shape filled in with usually a black colour.

Silhouette jewellery is very personal and the craftsmen recreate a silhouette outline of someone or something special.

Together with our silhouette artist we can create truly unique silhouettes of children, grandchildren or perhaps something a little different like your beloved pet.

What is the process of crafting silhouettes?

Delve into an opportunity to create an exquisite gift for your loved one. Follow the steps to understand more about the silhouette process.

1. Contact us. Contact the boutique team if you wish to begin the process of creating a silhouette, and whether you would like the silhouette in gold or silver. We will also ask what you want your silhouette to be; a necklace pendant, a charm for a bracelet, cufflinks, or freestanding.
2. Reference photographs. Our talented silhouette artist requires reference photographs which enables the artist to paint accurate silhouette profiles. More information on photography can be found below.
3. Expert craftsmanship. Once we receive the painting from the silhouette artist we will share it with our expert craftsmen who will precisely cut the silhouette design into your desired design.
4. Timeline. Please allow between four to six weeks from the point of ordering until the silhouettes will be ready.
5. Personal touch. The silhouette pendant can be made even more personal with hand engraving of a name and/or date.

What are the photography requirements?

As part of the silhouette crafting process, our silhouette artist requires various reference photographs to paint accurate silhouette profiles.

These photographs must conform to the following requirements:
1. The subject should be standing against a plain background.
2. The subject must be facing at a right angle to the camera to show their profile clearly.
3. The camera must be held on a horizontal level with the subject’s head.
4. Please ensure that the head and shoulders almost fill the viewfinder.
5. The subject ideally should not be smiling.

If you need any further advice or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our team who will be happy to help.
