An immersion in French fantasy.

Nestled in the picturesque landscapes of provincial France, Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte stands as a testament to the grandeur and opulence of the 17th century. The inspiration behind the Palace of Versailles, Vaux-le-Vicomte promises timeless elegance and traditional French splendour. Throughout the year, the château hosts a variety of events that immerse guests in its history and natural beauty.

Vaux-le-Vicomte’s Dancing Fountains

Every Saturday evening from June to September, the château is illuminated by hundreds of candles that adorn the windows and pathways of the château. Created by renowned landscape architect André Le Nôtre, the château's myriad of fountains and ornamental ponds come alive and dance in the candlelight of the château. A breath-taking scene, this is the perfect way to conclude a visit to Vaux-le-Vicomte.

The Secret Waterways of Vaux-le-Vicomte

From July until November, guests are invited to delve under the château and discover the secret waterways upon which the estate was built. Led by professional actors, this interactive tour explores the architectural feats of the estate and the fascinating work of André Le Nôtre.

An Evening by Candlelight

In the summer months, visitors are welcomed to witness an enchanting spectacle as the château and its gardens are illuminated by over 2,000 candles. Against this backdrop guests can immerse themselves in the elegant atmosphere that harkens back to the famous celebrations of French royalty. The evening culminates in a breath-taking fireworks display - a touch of magic to an already unforgettable experience.

Grande Journée des Costumés (Grand Siècle Day)

On 25th May, guests are invited to step into a day of historical entertainment. The day includes displays of fencing and live music performances. The château staff dress in French period attire for the event and guests are encouraged to partake in the fancy-dress as well. The château provides a garden picnic for guests to enjoy, and visitors are free to explore the château's extensive grounds. The in-house museum, located in the stables, displays the château's historical collection of carriages.
