Visit the Birthplace of Impressionism
This year, France celebrates the 150th anniversary of Impressionism. Cassandra travelled to Honfleur, on the Normandy coast, which many art historians believe to be the birthplace of Impressionism.
Where to stay
Hotel Saint-Délis - La Maison du Peintre is the former house of the artist Henri de Saint-Délis and is conveniently nestled in the heart of the historic district.
La Ferme Saint Siméon combines the charm of traditional Norman buildings, views of the estuary and beautiful gardens. Typical from the 17th century the main house is a mix of blue-toned slate tiles and traditional half-timbered walls.

SaQuaNa: standing for Saveur, Qualité et Nature is the name of Alexandre Bourdas' restaurant that soon gained the coveted Michelin two rosette status. It all began in Honfleur, on a small street off the pretty bassin that has captivated artists and writers for centuries.
Celebrate 150 years of Impressionism
To celebrate the 150th anniversary of Impressionism, exhibitions are on display in over thirty museums around France including an important exhibition at the Musée d'Orsay.
What's on
For the fifth year running, Normandy will host Normandie Impressioniste, and at the Musée des Beaux Arts in Rouen, David hockney's Normandism will be on show as part of the 150th anniversary festival.
